Violence 02:40
Across the water A distance that used to be smaller The place I call homes just an acquisition Setting up plastic encampments in the sand They spent so much time getting fucked up across this stolen land When I was facedown In the water I forgot how Violence permeates every decision Didn’t think about presidents Didn’t think about buying anything And in the midst of it I forgot how to breath too Oceans will be swept away By sediment flooding out from the decay Of where we stood yesterday But together we’ll be ok Fuck where we stood yesterday Cause together we’ll be ok
2.
Outhouses 01:29
I found myself Crumpled up and scared Afraid of the world But I wasn’t there They painted a portrait And I thought it was a mirror I wanna smash it make it clear God replaces empathy It’s too late for unity When you deny reality When the world ends You fuckers will be stuck in offices When the end comes Some of us will be stuck in outhouses Crying please god Let me die anywhere but here
3.
Shelter 02:57
All of my petty problems Form this impenetrable fog Hanging over me Except for my asthma Cause I have to be able to breathe Before anything else Believing Life has inherent meaning Makes living meaningless So you will never see Anybody's value Or why they should be able to breathe Before anything else Before working enough to eat Before sheltering themselves I am not my body and my body isn't me But it is the car i'm driving And the bed in which i sleep And like a machine it will give out on me I have to be able to breathe Before everything else Before working enough to eat Before sheltering myself
4.
Wind Slows 02:19
This is the part of me That doesn’t want to live free That speaks in apologies That’s slowly rotting Lay down on the river bank It’s meaningless The fog glows The wind slows It takes away my breath And if the light comes through You know you did enough To bathe in it To deserve love Sink into the lake Feel the depth The fog glows The wind slows Until there’s nothing left
5.
Who can I be tomorrow realistically Fuck the person I wanted to be In 5 years 5 years back In 2017 Just try to embrace the possibility That the entire system collapses by 2050 And the tiniest steps start to add up Once you get into the groove of it Wholesome thoughts about getting better Are slowly seeping in Just think about all the eucalyptus trees And the prisons we’ll burn to the ground In the next century
6.
Gameboy SP 02:28
It hurt itself in its confusion I read on the screen Of my Gameboy SP In 2003 Microplastics in the bloodstream Of every human being Alive They’ll find everything that we made Then we’ll fade away So I’m gonna live Like I’m already free Microplastics in the bloodstream Of every living thing No god It’s raining for the first time in weeks I go on a walk to clear my allergies Feeling uninspired and surreal Fix it all with a coffee I noticed the houses starting to glow On my walk home
7.
West Coast 02:13
Crawling up and down the west coast Soak it in Cause this place is bound to erode Fumbling with the volume Ash in the coffee cup And I’ve never felt so at home And nothing exists but now So I’m pulling over now And they’re all planning their escapes After setting fire to this place But the night sky is clear And we’ve got a right to our atmosphere Crawling up and down the west coast Wondering when the sun is gonna explode Nothing exists but now So this is who I am now
8.
Death Poems 03:20
Marine layer death smell Decay on the beach Feeding the cycle Rotting in peace Forest floor Devour me Send me up through the branches Integrate me Transcendental death poems Take me out of this room Bring the world into me Bring the world into you Sluggish moss, grimly crawling Into caves, over mountains Show me how to eat the world So I can feel whole again
9.
Swept Away 03:17
You’re not built to last But you echo along your path In everything you touch In every one of us Like brown replaces green There’s just some shit you can’t unsee And there’s something always around the corner Waiting When dust builds up on you It takes longer to break through And when you stop to catch your breath The dust settles again When I was facedown In the water I forgot how Violence permeates every decision Oceans will be swept away By sediment flooding out from the decay Of where we stood yesterday But maybe we’ll be ok
